Ángel Jara Taboada, Director of Photography
Ángel Jara Taboada is a Mexican cinematographer with more than 12 years of experience in the film industry, originally from the city of Oaxaca. He completed his higher education at the Centro de Capacitación Cinematográfica A.C. (CCC) specializing in Cinematography, and has worked on multiple film productions in Los Angeles, California between 2013 and 2014. Since 2016, he has been working in Mexico as a cinematographer and camera operator for various feature films, series, and short films for Netflix, Amazon, HBO, and VIX.
Selected for the Camera Studio of Berlinale Talents in Berlin in 2025 and the ASC Vision Mentorship Program in 2026.
His work as a cinematographer has won awards at national and international festivals such as the International Documentary Film Festival Amsterdam (idfa), Berlinale International Film Festival, Clermont-Ferrand Int’l Film Festival, Telluride Film Festival, San Sebastián International Film Festival, Morelia International Film Festival (FICM), Guanajuato International Film Festival (GIFF), Locarno Film Festival, Outfest Los Angeles, Cinélatino Toulouse, Zsigmond Vilmos International Film Festival , among many others.
He has contributed photographic work to collective exhibitions at the Centro Fotográfico Manuel Álvarez Bravo (CFMAB), at the MoMA New Directors New Films, at the Social and Public Arts and Resource Center (SPARC, Los Angeles), at Reizes Gallery (Boston), and at the Museo de Arte Popular (MAP, Mexico City).
